Southern California is poised to enjoy a couple more clear days before a new cold and rainy system makes its way in by the upcoming weekend.

The rain is expected to approach from the north late Friday night, intensifying throughout Saturday and accumulating just shy of an inch in most regions. Temperatures will dip into the 50s and low 60s as the system moves through.
In the northern areas, the Sierras are under a blizzard warning from Thursday afternoon until Sunday, with forecasts predicting 1-2 feet of snow accompanied by strong winds. This bodes well for the state’s water reservoirs following a sluggish, dry start earlier in the winter.

Before the rain arrives, Wednesday in Southern California promises mostly clear skies by the afternoon, once the morning cloud cover dissipates. Expect pleasant temperatures ranging from the 60s to the 70s.
- Los Angeles and Orange Counties: Anticipate a high of 70 on Wednesday with morning cloudiness gradually giving way to clearer skies.
- Valleys and Inland Empire: Similar conditions are expected here, with temperatures reaching a high of 72.
- Beaches: Daytime highs at the beaches will reach 64 with 2-4 foot surf.
- Mountains: Wednesday will bring mostly sunny skies to the mountains with a daytime high of 51, dropping to 25 at night. With the arrival of the cold system over the weekend, mountainous areas can expect around 4-8 inches of snow above 6,000 feet.
- Deserts: Daytime temperatures in the deserts will peak at 68, falling to 39 overnight.
Enjoy the clear skies while they last, as rain is on the horizon for Southern California this weekend.
