‘Avatar 3’ Producer Jon Landau Speaks On Rumored ‘The Seed Bearer’ Subtitle

It’s long been rumored that Avatar 3 will have the subtitle The Seed Bearer. Series producer Jon Landau finally speaks on the proposed name.

The title The Seed Bearer comes from a years-old leak that accurately guessed the first sequel would have the subtitle The Way of Water. While the list also included names such as The Tulkun Rider and The Quest for Eywa, The Seed Bearer stood out because of how silly it sounded. However, it seems the memes were too good to be true, with producer Jon Landau debunking the Avatar 3 subtitle:

“I’m qualified to tell you that that is not the title for Avatar 3,” Landau revealed when asked by Comicbook.com. “That’s what my Wikipedia page says? That is getting changed tonight!”

For as much as certain corners on the internet wouldn’t mind Jake Sully to be The Seed Bearer, it may be best for everyone that Avatar 3 takes a different subtitle. While it’s possible the leak simply drew from earlier drafts at the title, it more likely had one piece of legit information with The Way of Water before making things up.

The cast and storyline of the Avatar sequel

Directed by James Cameron from a script he co-wrote with Josh Friedman, The Way of Water stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, Giovanni Ribisi and Kate Winslet.

Disney’s Avatar: The Way of Water synopsis reads as follows: “Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar: The Way of Water begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.”
