Saying Goodbye to Dropshare Cloud: Changes Afoot in File Sharing
Dropshare, a widely used macOS and iOS application facilitating seamless file sharing to cloud platforms, is bidding farewell to its own cloud service. The company has officially confirmed the discontinuation of “Dropshare Cloud” on January 31, 2024, redirecting its focus towards supporting the leading cloud storage providers in the market. Notably, Dropshare presently collaborates with major platforms like Amazon S3, Google Drive, Dropbox, and Box.
End of an Era: Dropshare Cloud Phases Out
In an email addressed to Dropshare customers, the company explained that after more than a decade on macOS and over eight years on iOS, the decision to discontinue Dropshare Cloud stems from a declining interest in the service over recent years. The blog post emphasized the app’s evolution to support a vast array of cloud storage providers, exceeding 27 in total.
Transition Period for Existing Users
For current Dropshare Cloud users, the platform will remain operational for uploading and downloading files until the end of January. To facilitate a smooth transition, Dropshare is temporarily lifting traffic limitations, allowing users to back up their files. However, it’s crucial for users to download their files before the impending shutdown in February 2024, as all files will be permanently deleted.
